6 million pilgrims predicted to visit Karbala in first 10 days of Muharram

Nassif Al-Khattabi Governor of Karbala emphasized completion of all arrangements for the revival of Ashura pilgrimage in this province and predicted that 6 million pilgrims will participate in the first ten days of Muharram.

According to the Iraqi News Agency, he said that a security meeting was held with the presence of the interior minister and commanders of Joint Operations Command and other security agencies before beginning of the Month of Muharram.

Al-Khattabi added that all security arrangements and special services for the revival of Ashura during the remaining days until the 10th night of Muharram have been completed.

The Governor referred that the services are ready and it is predicted that more than 6 million pilgrims participate in Ashura pilgrimage which continues for 10 days.

He said that after Ashura, we will prepare for the Arbaeen pilgrimage which is expected to reach 23 million pilgrims and several measures will be taken for this pilgrimage.

He told that all arrangements have been conducted and service plans have been reviewed and the people of Karbala and the Hossaini procession Mawakibs and the governorate are cooperating extensively to provide services to the pilgrims.

He stated that heat is a challenge and we need to provide more services and mechanisms to protect pilgrims and we have taken measures in this regard.
