Washington Institute: Al-Kaabi, exclusive leader of anti-American movement in Iraq
In an analytical report, a famous American think-tank, referring to the division of work of the Resistance groups after the election of Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani as the prime minister of Iraq, introduced the secretary-general al-Nujaba as the successor of Martyr al-Muhandis and the leader of the anti-American Resistance movement in this country.
According to the website of the representative office of al-Nujaba in Iran – In an analysis written by Hamdi Malik and Michael Knights, their senior experts, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP) stated that the secretary-general of the al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement is being built up as the main opposition figure of the United States in Iraq and now he is leading the Islamic Resistance in this country in the capacity of the Martyr Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
Referring to the speech of Shaykh Akram al-Kaabi at the annual International al-Quds Day conference in Baghdad, which was held in the presence of the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the secretary-general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, this American think-tank wrote, “The event was organized by the Iraqi Resistance Coordination Committee and al-Kaabi’s speech was the most strongly worded and the only one delivered by a top-tier Muqawamah (Resistance) leader about the US presence in Iraq and one section attacked US ambassador Alina Romanowski.”
The authors of this analysis believe that the groups supporting the Resistance in Iraq have become divided after the al-Sudani administration took office. This means that some of them, by infiltrating political and executive institutions such as the parliament and the government, avoid declaring clear and harsh positions against the United States, and instead, they have entrusted the role of leading the anti-occupation movement exclusively to the secretary-general of the al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement.
The Washington Institute has described the above-mentioned process as a kind of “ungrudging division” and concluded, “Currently, leading Resistance media outlets in social networks such as Sabereen News call al-Kaabi ‘the chief of staff of the muqawamah’ and the al-Nujaba Movement is expected to increase the amount of kinetic military operations against American forces, especially in Syria.”
