Iraqi Official: Army Regains Control of Samarra-Baghdad Main Road

The Iraqi military made major advances in its fight against the ISIL terrorists in Salahuddin province, and gained back the control of the Samarra-Baghdad main road, a senior official said.

Major General Emad Al-Eqabi said the army troops staged an operation in Salahuddin province, and managed to liberate the Samarra-Baghdad main road from the control of the ISIL terrorists after heavy clashes with the Takfiri group.

“The road has been secured and reopened for passengers. The security forces have managed to repel a number of attacks by the ISIL group on the area,” he added.

The ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently control a shrinking part of Syria and Iraq. They have threatened all communities, including Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Ezadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq.

Senior Iraqi officials have blamed Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and some Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.

The ISIL has links with Saudi intelligence and is believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.
