Pope Francis meets Ayatollah Sistani while latter laments sufferings of humanity

Office of the Grand Ayatollah, Ali al-Sistani, announced in a statement today that: “During his meeting with the Pope of the Vatican, Sistani spoke about the suffering of many in various countries of the world from injustice, oppression and poverty, and about the wars and acts of violence that the peoples of the region suffer from.

The office statement added: “During his meeting with the Pope, Sistani emphasized his interest in ensuring that Christians live like all Iraqis in safety and peace.”
