US did everything to prevent its troops’ withdrawal from Iraq: Abdul-Mahdi
The former Iraqi Prime Minister said that the US government did everything possible to prevent the expulsion of US forces from Iraqi territory.
Former Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi said that the US President Donald Trump put a lot of pressure on the Baghdad government to prevent the implementation of the Iraqi parliament’s plan to expel US forces.
Abdul-Mahdi emphasized that the assassination of the martyr Qasem Soleimani, the late commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps of Iran, and “Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis” in Iraq, was the crossing of all red lines by the Americans.
General Qasem Soleimani, who traveled to Iraq on January 3 at the official invitation of Iraqi officials, was killed along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and eight others in an airstrike by US aggression and terrorist forces near Baghdad airport in Iraq.
The US military presence in Iraq has become a hot-button issue in the country since a US drone bombed and assassinated top Iraqi and Iranian military commanders near Baghdad international airport on Friday 3 January 2020.
