Dozens of rockets hit base housing American troops in Baghdad

Dozens of rockets have hit Iraq base housing American and Spanish troops south Baghdad, the third attack in a week.
Rockets hit a base housing US personnel, Iraq’s military said Tuesday, the third attack on installations housing foreign forces inside a week.
The rockets struck into the Besmaya base south of Baghdad late Monday night, a statement by the military said, making no mention of casualties.
Spanish forces linked to the US are present in Besmaya.
The US military presence in Iraq has become a hot-button issue in the country since a US drone bombed and assassinated Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani Iran’s top counter-terrorism commander and PMF leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis near Baghdad international airport on Friday 3 January 2020.
