Irani Speaker Warns of New Plots against Iran by Israel’s Move on Quds

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani warned that the US and Israel’s moves on Jerusalem al-Quds will lead to new events for the regional states, including Iran.

“The issue is not just confined to the transfer of a capital but they want to misuse this in the region so that the Islamic states will forget the Palestinian issue. They should know that the issue is not just limited to Quds,” Larijani said, addressing the emergency meeting of the Palestine Committee of the inter-parliamentary union of Islamic countries in Tehran on Monday.

“If the Zionist regime emerges successful in transferring its capital to Quds, it will trigger new events for the Islamic Republic,” he warned.

“The fate of Palestine is interwoven with the fate of all Islamic states,” Larijani underlined.

His remarks came after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani blasted some Arab and Muslim states’ attempts to normalize ties with Israel, saying that such moves contributed to US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israeli capital.

“Through every possible means, we should join hands to prevent the enforcement of such an unintelligent US act. However, we should also investigate what elements and reasons emboldened the US President to take such a rude and sacrilegious decision,” President Rouhani said, addressing an extraordinary summit meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in Istanbul last Wednesday.

“I believe that other than any other reason, the efforts of some countries to establish relations and even consultation and coordination with the Zionist regime have incited such a decision,” he added, alluding to Saudi Arabia and certain other Persian Gulf Arab littoral states which attempt to normalize ties with Israel.

“Instead of countering the threats of the Zionists, some countries in our region are aligned with the US and Zionists to prescribe the fate of Palestine — If such prescriptions are taken, the Zionists would permanently dominate the Palestinians,” President Rouhani warned.
