US after Muslims genocide in Mideast, Syria – official

Senior Advisor to the Supreme Leader Yahya Rahim Safavi said the US was after genocide of Muslims in the Middle East and Syria.

Pointing to recent crimes against the Syrian Muslim nation, he said Washington, by providing immense financial resources to terrorists, was seeking massacre of Muslims in the Middle East, especially Syria.

Addressing an international gathering on geopolitics of Shiite religion here on Tuesday, he said the western countries, especially the US, were plotting to damage the exiting unity among the world Muslims.

He said maintaining and safeguarding unity within the Islamic world called for many factors and measures like enhancing regional convergence and further proximity among countries which share more common points in terms of language, ethnicity and culture.

Safavi also pointed to more regional and continental cooperation, development and completion of conventions and agreements in economic, political and security areas.

Stressing that the US, the Zionist regime and a number of European and even Arab countries are trying to damage the Muslim unity, he said in the past months they have made a number of regional countries collaborate with them.
