Ayatullah Khamenei: ‘US capitalism on verge of full collapse’

shiitenews rehbar kirmanshaLeader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the capitalist system in the West and the United States will completely collapse in the future. In an address to the overwhelmingly huge crowds of enthusiastic people in Iran’s western province of Kermanshah on Wednesday, the Leader highlighted the significance of the continuing “Occupy Wall Street”

protest rallies against corporatism in the United States.

US officials, who claim to advocate the freedom of expression, made efforts to downplay the protests, and kept silent on the issue even 2 to 3 weeks after the eruption of the protests, the Leader said.

Although they are suppressing the protesters, they are unable to uproot the causes of corruption in the capitalist system, Ayatollah Khamenei added.

The Leader emphasized that the corrupted capitalist system shows no mercy to any nation, including the American people.

In the thousand-strong New York demonstrations, people use the slogan “We are the 99 percent” which means that the remaining one percent is condemned, Ayatollah Khamenei stated.

He emphasized that the one percent of the American population waged the war in Iraq, and that they are the ones who support the Israeli regime.

They are making every effort to save Israel and keep the “cancerous tumor” alive in the region, Ayatollah Khamenei noted.

The Leader denounced the heavy-handed treatment of the demonstrators by US officials, saying such a treatment is not seen even in underdeveloped countries with dictatorial regimes.

Today, the capitalist system in the US and the West has reached a total impasse, Ayatollah Khamenei concluded.

The US protest rallies christened “Occupy Wall Street” against the prevalence of top-level corruption, poverty and social inequality in America, started in New York in mid-September and have now spread to nearly 70 cities across the country.

The movement takes shape as high unemployment – which stood at 9.1 percent for August – home foreclosures and corporate bank bailouts force citizens into action.

Protesters use the slogan, “We are the 99 percent” to underline the fact that they are not part of the one percent of Americans in possession of the major portion of the nation’s wealth.
