Leader pardons Iranian prisoners

shiitenews_Leader_pardons_Iranian_prisoners Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has granted clemency or eased the sentences of some 996 prisoners.

The Leader on Tuesday agreed to a request by Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani to pardon some prisoners on the occasion of Â the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (PBUH) –the first Shia Imam.

The 13th day of the lunar, Islamic month of Rajab marks the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (PBUH).

The auspicious occasion is celebrated by Shias all across the world.
