Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday that sports is not regarded as an individual activity but a collective move which demonstrates the capabilities of nations.According to the Shiite News, President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with disabled and war veteran athletes who are to attend the First Asian Para Games 2010 at Guangzhou, China.
Sports have roots in vigilance, arts and capabilities of nations, said the Iranian President adding that an athlete is a real artist.
Sports demonstrate the will and self-confidence of nations, he underlined.
‘Your undisputable success in sports has urged us to have more expectations from you on such international scenes,’ he said.

Some 3000 athletes from 41 Asian countries are to take part in the First Asian Para Games 2010 at Guangzhou.
The Iranian delegation comprising 158 athletes is to contest in 15 sporting fields and is to leave Tehran for Guangzhou on December 9.
