Iran’s Influence in World Angers US: Leader

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei described the country’s strategic depth in the world, especially in the region, as a major accomplishment, and said the Islamic Establishment’s growing influence has enraged the US.

“Iran’s growing influence and nations’ support for the Islamic Establishment are our solid backbone and this fact has angered the Americans and made their analysts look for ways to counter Iran’s rising influence,” Ayatollah Khamenei said Thursday in a meeting with the chairman and members of the Assembly of Experts.

The Leader also highlighted the strategic depth the Islamic Republic has gained in the world, West Asia in particular, as one of the major achievements made in the past four decades.

Ayatollah Khamenei then referred to the Islamic Establishment’s efforts to materialize “pure Muhammadan Islam” and the nation’s moving toward ideals as the main reason behind the enmity of all hegemonic powers against the Islamic Republic.

The Leader further referred to struggling against hegemonic powers and not trusting them as a certainty for the Islamic Establishment.

Elsewhere, Ayatollah Khamenei dismissed Washington’s latest criticism of voting in Iran, saying the Americans who maintain close cooperation and friendship with the most wicked regimes in the region and had this “massive scandal” in their own recent elections, have launched an onslaught against the Iranian nation’s elections.

In its 2016 human rights report released earlier this month, the US Department of State questioned the electoral process in Iran, accusing it of “falling short of international standards for free elections”.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has also rejected the claim, underlining that Iran’s elections are “free, healthy, competitive and democratic” and saying the US had better care about its own recent presidential election and the subsequent social turmoil.

“I believe that those criticizing elections in Iran need to take a look at their own recent elections and the problems they have had,” the president said on Tuesday.
