Russian President Putin rejected Presidential Protocol during meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei

Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected all his Presidential Protocols in the meeting with the leader of Islamic revolution Ayatollah Khamenei, during his recent visit to Iran. According to special report of Shiite News, Putin reached Tehran on Monday to participate in an International conference regarding Gas and Resources but when he reached Tehran airport he put all his Presidential protocols aside and instead of going with the reception committee, came to welcome him, went to meet Ayatollah Khamenei in his own car and only with few of his officials.

According to sources, Putin was scheduled to meet Ayatollah Khamenei at a different time but he kept all his protocols aside and went to meet Ayatollah Khamenai. The meeting between two leaders continued for two hours. Russian President Putin was extremely respectful and humble towards Ayatollah Khamenei and kept smiling, it was observed, something that was not seen in his meetings with other leaders of the world. He also presented a hand written copy of 3rd Century Hijri’s Quran to Ayatollah Khamenei.

It should be noted that presenting Quran to a leader was unprecedented in history and different leaders of the world always present worldly things, including beer, as gifts to their counterparts but this gift was different from all others.

During the two hour long meeting, both the leaders discussed regional issues, Iran-Russia relations, Daesh’s reality and its eradication, issues regarding Islam and Islamic world and west’s extremism. President Putin also praised Iran’s role in supporting all the oppressed people of the world.

Ayatollah Khamenei also appreciated Putin’s role and said “the west, including US, does not want strong relations between Iran and Russia and also does not want Russia to be in the group of Iran, China and Hezbollah against Daesh. Ayatollah Khamenei regarded Russian President Putin’s efforts against terrorism as unforgettable.

President Putin also said that he witnessed all the qualities of Hazrat Isa (as) in Ayatollah Khamenei’s personality.
