Leader Praises Persian Language as Foundation of Iranian-Islamic Civilization

In a message marking the National Day of Commemoration of Abul-Qasem Ferdowsi and the Persian Language Preservation Day, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei described the Persian language as more than a means of speech and writing, saying it constitutes the framework of understanding, the bond connecting thought, and the identity boundaries of Iranians.

The Leader said Persian language and literature represent one of the greatest capacities for spreading the rich culture and civilization of Islamic Iran globally and referred to the recommendation of late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei regarding strengthening the Persian language as a guiding light for the power of “Iranian-Islamic civilization.”

The Leader stated that during the “third sacred defense,” just as in the two previous imposed wars, the Iranian nation proved that Ferdowsi’s epic stories reflected the reality of their lives and heroic character.

According to the message, the human-building, courageous, and Quranic concepts of the Shahnameh unite all ethnic groups and social classes in Iran in preserving their identity, authenticity, and independence and in confronting aggressors likened to Zahhak.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the epic of participation, defense, and victory places a major responsibility on cultural, literary, and artistic figures to rise like Ferdowsi and align the mission of artists with the mission of the people.

He called on cultural activists to combine thought, pen, language, and art in order to immortalize the narrative of the nation’s great uprising in history.

The Leader further stated that the courageous resistance and proud victory against “demonic aggressors and the devils of the world” has made the Iranian nation more prepared to safeguard its civilizational independence and confront linguistic, cultural, and American lifestyle influences.

He added that, through the initiative and innovation of cultural activists in strengthening linguistic and discourse defense and fostering the growth of children, adolescents, and youth, the nation would continue the remaining stages toward final victory with greater steadfastness.
