Iran National Football Team Receives Grand Farewell, Becomes the Heartbeat of Millions at Azadi Square

ShiiteNews: Iran’s national football team was given a passionate and historic farewell ceremony on Wednesday, May 23, 2026, at Tehran’s famous Azadi Square ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Thousands of men, women, youth, and elderly citizens carrying Iranian flags gathered to bid farewell to their national heroes.

During this memorable occasion, the team’s new kit was also unveiled, featuring a beautiful design of Iran’s national animal, the Asiatic cheetah. The jersey, numbered 12, was specially presented to the mother of martyr Amirhossein Mahmoudzadeh, creating the most emotional and touching moment of the ceremony.

Football Federation President Mehdi Taj, Farideh Shojaei, and other senior officials stood shoulder to shoulder with the public throughout the event. Team captain Ehsan Hajsafi read the pledge and delivered a message of national unity and solidarity. Air Force representative Janbaz Mehrjou thanked the entire nation. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the team’s official anthem was presented for the first time.
