Iran’s power causes enemies to seek ceasefire: Sayyed Khamenei
The power and resilience of the Iranian nation are what compel adversaries to seek a ceasefire during confrontations with the country, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Republic of Iran, declared on Tuesday.
“What makes the enemy first request a ceasefire during the [12-Day] war with the Iranian nation, then send messages saying he doesn’t want to fight us?” Sayyed Khamenei stated in a post on X. He emphasized that this shift in the enemy’s posture is driven by the strength and deterrent capability of the Iranian people.
Sayyed Khamenei also expressed caution, stating, “Of course, the malicious enemy is a deceiving liar & we don’t trust them,” underlining the strategic vigilance maintained by Iran in the face of diplomatic and military maneuvering by its adversaries.
Threats against Iran escalate
This comes as the United States continues to issue threats against Tehran. Most recently, US President Donald Trump threatened to “hit” Iran “hard”, using the country’s policing of rioting as a pretext to justify aggression. Iranian officials have repeatedly distinguished between legitimate protests driven by economic grievances and riots aimed at spreading chaos and undermining stability.
Both American and Israeli officials and lawmakers are escalating rhetoric openly advocating regime change. The statements coincide with protests by shopkeepers in several Iranian cities over rising inflation and economic pressures, with demonstrators demanding government intervention.
In an official statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the “interventionist statements of the President and other American officials about Iran’s internal affairs,” denouncing him and other US officials for their attempts to interfere in Iran’s domestic matters, calling their comments “irresponsible” and hypocritical.
The ministry added that US claims of “sympathy with the great Iranian nation to be hypocritical and intended to deceive public opinion and cover up the numerous crimes committed against Iranians.”
Tehran also urged the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly to fulfill their responsibilities in addressing the “beligerent American unilateralism” and disregard for international norms.
