The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has vowed that those behind the killing of several Sunni tribal leaders in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan would be swiftly punished, saying the country’s security and military forces would deliver a “decisive response.”

In a statement carried by Sepah News on Sunday, the Quds Headquarters of the IRGC condemned the “terrorist crime” by militant groups that killed several prominent local figures, including Mullah Kamal, Reza Azarkish, Parviz Kadkhodaei, and Shams Askani.

“The agents and masterminds of these crimes will soon face retribution for their disgraceful acts, and the powerful security and military forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will decisively respond to these brutal actions,” the statement said.

The IRGC said the attacks were carried out by mercenary groups affiliated with the Israeli regime to undermine unity between Shia and Sunni communities in the border province.

The statement added that the people of Sistan and Baluchestan, known for their “vigilance and unity,” would continue to resist plots by “enemies of Islam and Iran”.
