Muslim scholars must put aside their religious disputes, call for proximity
On the second day of his trip to Azerbaijan, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani attended noon congregational prayers at Baku’s Təzəpir Mosque with a group of local scholars and clerics.
After prayers, the Iranian source of emulation cited several narrations to explain the important and crucial duties which scholars have during the present era, saying: “According to the verses and narrations that we have, the most important duties of the scholars is to recognise their time the events occurring in it.”
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani emphasized that the three important principles of knowledge, sincerity and action should be the priority scholars, adding: “Another one of the important principles that scholars must be aware of in this present time is jihad.”
Islamic ummah needs unity more than ever before
In another part of his speech, the renowned source of emulation stated that, the Muslim world is in need of unity and cooperation more than ever before. The enemies of Islam have applied all means at their disposal to divide or create conflicts among Muslims. Islamic scholars and intellectuals of any religious belief should consider religious proximity and put aside their differences because the Islamic ummah has suffered greatly from divisiveness.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said that another duty of Islamic scholars is for them to invite the Muslim world to harmony and brotherhood and alert them to the role of the arrogant powers of the world.

During a meeting with Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani, Shaykh al-Islam Allahshükür Hummat Pashazadeh, the highest religious authority in Azerbaijan, welcomed His Eminence to Azerbaijan and stressed that his trip to the former Soviet republic was a milestone in the history of the country and praised his character as a renowned source of emulation.
