Fire erupts at oil refinery in Tehran, no casualties
A large blaze has erupted in an oil refinery in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Parts of the Shahid Tondgooyan Oil Refinery in Shahr-e-Rey were on fire on Wednesday.
Mansour Darajati, the director general of crisis management at the Tehran Governor’s Office, said one of the connecting pipelines inside the refinery had caught fire. He said an explosion occurred because of a leak at the transmission pipe inside the refinery.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
The public relations department of the oil refinery said no act of sabotage was associated with the blaze.
Due to the fire, heavy smoke could be seen in the southern areas of Tehran.
