Peace, Friendship, Iran’s Message to World: Army Commander

Iranian Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi reaffirmed on Monday that the great headway Iran has made in the military sphere poses no threat to the other nations.

“Given the new technologies in possession of our country’s Armed Forces, our message for the other countries is peace and friendship,” the top officer said on the sidelines of a ceremony in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, held to unveil a series of new naval products.
Not only have the local experts designed new military systems, but also have managed to renovate and update the old equipment and make them ready for the naval operations, added the commander.
Major General Salehi said the Navy’s entire vessels and choppers have been equipped with the state-of-the-art missiles and cannons.
As regards the overseas missions, the commander said Iran’s naval fleets “operate independently in the international waters and high seas, while the countries that have (military) presence in the Gulf of Aden are signatories to a specific military treaty.”
In recent years, Iran’s naval forces have increased their presence in the international waters to protect naval routes and provide security for merchant vessels and oil tankers.
The Iranian Navy has been conducting anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden since November 2008 to safeguard the vessels involved in maritime trade, especially the ships and oil tankers owned or leased by Iran.
