Ending War on Yemen Is Best Way to Stop Escalation in Region: Zarif

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has stressed that ending Yemen war is the way to stop the escalation in the region.

In a press statement he made at the end of his visit to New York on Saturday in response to a question, that Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan had brought messages from Saudi Arabia to Iran, Zarif said our massages are public. We say to all our neighbors that they cannot bring security by buying arms from America and paving the way for it to come to the region and ignite endless conflicts and wars with neighbors.

Zarif added that those who came with messages made very commendable efforts to prevent the widening and escalation of tension, but the way to end that is quite clear and is by ending the war on Yemen.

He added that ending the war on Yemen means ending the killing of the Yemeni people, of whom 100,000 have been killed so far, 2.3 million have been infected with cholera and 20 million live in famine. Tensions in the region will end and will stop Saudi Arabia’s reputation to be deteriorated even more.

The Iranian foreign minister stressed that this way is the best and the sooner the Saudi government to accept this fact will end the very dangerous situation in our region.

Zarif said that the Europeans could not fulfill their obligations under the nuclear agreement, after the exit of America from the agreement, so they think that the way to solve their problem is to make us negotiate with Trump.

“We are not the reason why they have a problem in fulfilling their obligations or do not have the will and the capacity, so they themselves have to find a way to solve their problem.”

Zarif stressed that we are not ready to hold the economy and the future of the people hostage to a show-off meeting with the US president, who has not yet fulfilled his commitments and left them all.
