Detainees of Bahrain’s Jaw Prison forced to pay for blankets, bed sheets

The administration in Bahrain’s Jaw Prison is being accused of ‘blackmailing’ detainees by forcing them to pay for some of the most basic necessities.

Activists reported on Thursday that blankets and bed sheets are now being sold by the administration at the detention facility.

Meanwhile, pillows are said to be in short supply with many prisoners creating one by stitching some of their cloths together.

Living conditions in Jaw have drastically deteriorated since the start of 2017 prompting scores of inmates to go on hunger strike while demanding to be treated more humanely.
