18 areas subjected to suppression of freedoms
Bahrain regime forces have arrested 4 citizens and raided number of houses. The forces subjected 18 areas to collective punishment by attacking neighborhoods with toxic tear gas thrown and fired into houses and densely populated areas.
Such behavior has caused cases of asphyxia and sometimes death. This ongoing suppressive policy aims to prevent the people from exercising their right to freedom of expression and assembly.
Despite this, the marches and protests went on around Bahrain in the following areas; Capital Manamma, Sitra, Nabih-Saleh, Ekr, Ma’ameer, Nuwaidrat, Demistan, Shahrakan, Qadam, Aali, Daih, Janusan, Dair, Quraya and Bilad Qadeem.
In Samaheej, an area which was not witnessing any protest at the time, the forces raided a mosque, damaged some of its property and arrested 3 citizens who were there.
People marched in Sitra in protest for the immediate release of prisoners of conscience, especially the female prisoners, as these imprisonments are totally unacceptable.
In the Capital Governorate and in the area of Nuaim, people marched in solidarity with the prisoners of Jaw prison who are mistreated, including Sheikh Mohammed Ali al-Mahfoodh, a political figure among other figures detained for accusations related to freedom of expression. The demonstrators chanted slogans demanding their release and called Jaw prison “Bahrain’s Guantanamo”.
In Ma’ameer, Karzakan people also marched for the release of female prisoners and the political figures.
