The Bahraini security authorities released former secretary-general of Wahdawi Society, Fadhel Abbas, on Monday (March 26, 2018) after serving a three-year prison term over a statement issued by his society condemning the war on Yemen.
Moneera Radhi, Abbas’s wife, said she had received a phone call from the authorities saying that her husband was released after serving a three-year sentence.
Radhi, via Twitter, explained that the authorities informed her to receive him from the Hamad Town police station.
A picture circulated by activists on social media showed Fadel Abbas outside prison.
It is worth to note that Abbas was arrested because of a statement issued by his society, which he headed then, condemning the war on Yemen. A five-year prison sentence was issued against him, and later the term was commuted to 3 years.
