Thousands Commemorate Ashura outside Bahraini Shiite Spiritual Leader’s House

Thousands of Bahraini citizens continue to commemorate Ashura outside the house of Shiite majority spiritual leader, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim in Diraz.

Photos circulated on social media networks show thousands of people gathering outside Sheikh Isa’s house. The authorities had revoked Sheikh Isa’s citizenship last June.

Since his citizenship revocation, thousands staged an open sit-in outside his house. The authorities responded to this demonstration by imposing a harsh siege on Diraz, which is home for 30 thousand residents.
