UK MPs, peers slammed for calling out Bahrain’s human rights abuses

The UK has brushed aside claims that it is unfairly targeting Bahrain. As observers say the Kingdom has a well-documented and abysmal human rights record, and Bahrain is trying to silence British parliamentarians and peers calling it out.

Nonetheless the fact of the matter is the UK and Bahrain are strategic allies and the UK has been reluctant to move from words to actions when it comes to defending Bahrain’s prisoners of conscience. Yet another example of double standards and hypocrisy, exercised by western nations with invested interest in maintaining the status quo.
