Manama’s security forces continued ban on Shiite Friday prayers

Manama’s security forces continued to enforce a ban on Shiite Friday prayers in Diraz’s Imam Al Sadiq Mosque this week. The ban was imposed in the summer of 2016.
Only a small number of worshipers managed to gain access to the mosque to perform individual prayers.
According to the residents, this Friday marks the 191 consecutive weeks since the ban went into effect.
The village is home to some 30,000 people, who have been subjected to an unprecedented lockdown by Manama’s security forces since the denaturalization of Bahrain’s highest religious authority Sheikh Isa Qassim in 2016.
