Martyrdom of Hazrat Roqayyeh (SA) Mourned in India

On the occasion of martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Roqayyeh (SA), a mourning ceremony was held on Tuesday, December 25, in Barabanki District of Uttar Pradesh State of India.

The program was addressed by Hojjat-ol-Islam Tanweer Heydar, Hojjat-ol-Islam Dhishan Heydar and Sajjad Hussein, Indian scholars.

 The scholars spoke about the tragedy of Karbala, the daughter of Imam Hussein (AS) and her martyrdom in the month of Safar. It is relevant to add here that in Pakistan and India, Hazrat Ruqayyeh is called Hazrat Sakeena (AS) and also pronounced as Sukaina (AS).  

 Various programs on the occasion are underway in different parts of India.
 The presence of Hazrat Ruqayyah (A.S.) in the event of Ashura manifests another aspect of grandeur and magnificence of Ashura tragedy. The presence of this little girl in the very heart of Husseini movement, definitely, cannot be considered a simple and insignificant thing.

 According to the historians and maqtal-recorders, the death of Hazrat Ruqayyah (A.S.) happened very short after the bloody event of Karbala in 61 A.D. when she was three or four years old.
