Indians from different sects mourn Muharram

india   20.12.2009   As Muharram begins, the Shiite Muslims of India take part in Mosques and Husseinias to mourn martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein (As) (the third Shii Imam). Shiite Muslims across India including New Delhi, Hyderabad, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Kulkata, Mumbai wearing black, hold commemoration ceremonies on martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein (AS) and his family and followers in a battle with the tyranny of the time in Karbala.   Delivering Speeches, reading poems on eminences and sufferings of the martyrs, lamentations and beating the chest are among ceremonies which are held during the first ten days of Muharram. Sunni Muslims of India also commemorate the days by holding special ceremonies. Meanwhile, followers of non-Muslim sects including Hindus and Sikhs who are interested in Imam Hossein (AS) also mourn the tragedy.
