According to Reuters, citing two American officials, US Marines stationed at the US consulate in Karachi opened fire as protesters attempted to breach the compound. The officials said it remains unclear whether any of the rounds discharged by the Marines struck or killed individuals.

The news agency further reported that US officials could not confirm whether other security personnel assigned to protect the facility, including private guards or local law enforcement officers, also used live ammunition during the unrest.

Pakistani outlet Geo reported that at least 10 people lost their lives amid clashes between protesters and police outside the compound.

Global outrage
This comes amid widespread anger across the Muslim world over the assassination of Iran’s spiritual and political leader, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, in US-Israeli strikes, a development that has sparked protests and official condemnations in multiple countries.
In Iraq, determined protesters moved toward Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone seeking to reach the US embassy after confirmation of Sayyed Khamenei’s martyrdom, with clashes breaking out at the Suspension Bridge as security forces attempted to block their advance.

Mass gatherings were also reported in the southern cities of Nasiriyah and Basra, as well as in Dhi Qar province, where crowds rallied in denunciation of the assassination and expressed solidarity with Iran.

Meanwhile, reports indicated that a US base in Erbil, in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, came under attack amid the escalating US-Israeli aggression, highlighting the depth of public anger and the widening regional impact of the crisis.

Large rallies also took place in Sanaa, where participants denounced the strikes and voiced solidarity with Iran.

In Istanbul and Ankara, demonstrators criticized Western military action and warned against further escalation.

Anti-war protests were staged in Athens, where marchers headed toward US and Israeli diplomatic missions.

Mobilizations were also reported in New Delhi and Srinagar, largely involving Shiite demonstrators holding marches and vigils.

Within the United States, anti-war activists organized protests in cities including Washington, DC and New York City, criticizing the strikes and warning against wider regional conflict.

In New York City, nearly 1,000 protesters gathered in Times Square before marching toward Columbus Circle, shutting down traffic and calling for an end to US military involvement and aggression against Iran.

Demonstrators criticized the unauthorized war and rejected calls for regime change in Tehran.

In London, hundreds gathered in Parliament Square to protest US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran, holding banners reading “Stop Trump’s Wars” and “No War on Iran.” Some demonstrators displayed images of martyred Iranian Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei and chanted slogans condemning US and Israeli actions.

In Pakistan, where public mobilization over regional conflicts can be swift and large in scale, diplomatic compounds have been placed under increased security.

Authorities have not issued a detailed account clarifying the sequence of fire, or the responsibility for the reported fatalities.
