Iran Engaged With Both Pakistan and Afghanistan to Reduce Tensions
Shiite News: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baqai has expressed deep concern over the rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Speaking at a weekly press briefing, he said Iran has been actively engaged in simultaneous diplomatic communication with both countries to help de-escalate the situation.
Baqai said Iran shares deep cultural and religious ties with both nations, and instability in the region threatens Iran’s own interests as well.
He noted that Iran had offered mediation soon after tensions emerged, and that Ali Larijani’s recent visit to Pakistan also included discussions about the Pakistan–Afghanistan situation.
He reaffirmed that Iran remains committed to promoting regional peace and stability and will continue its efforts toward reducing tensions between the two neighboring countries.
