Mosque blast during Friday prayers kills 62 in Afghanistan, according to Western media reports.

The blast in Haska Mina district of eastern Nangarhar province left at least 62 dead.

According to provincial police spokesman Mubarez Attal, all the victims were worshippers.

Other officials such as provincial governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani spoke on casualties.

Furthermore,a doctor at a hospital in Haska Mina also shared details.

Reportdely, 55 sustained wounds due to explosion.

Although both the Taliban and Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group remained active in Nangarhar province, none immediately claimed responsibility. .

The blast came after the United Nations released a new report on Thursday saying that an “unprecedented” number of civilians killed or wounded in Afghanistan from July to September.

Notably, civilians have long borne the brunt of violence in Afghanistan’s conflict. The UN called the casualties “totally unacceptable”.

The UN laid the blame mainly at the feet of anti-government elements such as the IS group and the Taliban, though it also documented an alarming rise in casualties caused by pro-government forces.
