Shiite News: Acting on the call of Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan and the directives of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan Chairman Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, a nationwide Protest Day was observed after Friday prayers against the approval of the controversial 27th Constitutional Amendment, which demonstrators denounced as an assault on the Constitution, judiciary and democratic values.
Peaceful protest gatherings were held outside central mosques in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Gilgit, Skardu, Quetta, Multan, Bahawalpur, Jhang, Layyah, Nawabshah, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kasur, Sheikhupura and various other cities.
Protesters carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans rejecting the 27th Amendment and defending the supremacy of the Constitution and democracy.
The central protest was held outside Jamia Masjid Al-Raza in Bara Kahu, Islamabad, where President of Majlis Ulema-e-Maktab Ahlul Bayt Pakistan Allama Syed Hasnain Abbas Gardezvi and MWM North Punjab Organiser Allama Syed Akbar Kazmi addressed the large congregation.
In Jacobabad, a major demonstration was organised under MWM District Jacobabad. Meezan Ali Domki and people from various sectors of society joined the protest, raising strong slogans against constitutional violations.
Addressing the crowd, MWM Sindh Provincial Organiser Allama Maqsood Ali Domki said that the 27th Amendment is an open attack on Pakistan’s democracy and constitutional framework.
He stated that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah achieved Pakistan through democratic struggle and not by force, and that the amendment aims to grant lifetime protection to corrupt rulers who have imposed a forged mandate on the nation.
He added that the amendment was passed at a time when there was no Leader of the Opposition present, and that under the cover of darkness, the government stripped the Supreme Court of its powers.
Such actions, he said, will place the judiciary under administrative influence, empowering the powerful even further.
Allama Domki termed the resignations of senior Supreme Court judges as a declaration of war against lawlessness.
District President Nazir Hussain Jafri also addressed the gathering, declaring that the people under the leadership of Allama Raja Nasir Abbas are united against constitutional violations and election fraud, and will continue their struggle under the platform of Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan.
In Gilgit, a large protest rally was taken out from central Jamia Masjid Imamia to Benazir Chowk. Speakers including MWM GB Provincial Secretary Arif Hussain Qanbari, PTI Provincial Vice President Shahid, Additional Secretary Ajmal Hussain, and others declared the 27th Amendment a suicidal attack on democratic values and national integrity. They vowed that under the leadership of Imran Khan and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, no anti-people policy would be allowed to pass.
In Rajua Sadat, a protest was organised after Friday prayers outside Jamia Masjid under the leadership of Allama Mehdi Kazmi. MWM leaders participated in the demonstration, raising slogans against the 27th Amendment and affirming their commitment to resisting unconstitutional changes.
In Jhang, an important protest was held outside central Jamia Masjid Zubaida Qaim Bharwana under the leadership of District President MWM Jhang, Maulana Syed Roohullah Kazmi. Addressing the gathering, he said that the steadfast people of Pakistan are united under Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan and will never accept amendments that rob citizens of their rights and undermine the Constitution.
In Lahore, after Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid Sahib-uz-Zaman, Islampura, MWM District Lahore held a symbolic protest led by District President Najam Khan Najam. Addressing participants, Provincial Leader Allama Syed Ghazanfar Ali Naqvi stated that the 27th Amendment is against the spirit of Pakistan’s constitutional identity. He said that the Constitution strictly prohibits any law against the Qur’an and Sunnah, yet this amendment runs contrary to Islamic values, and therefore cannot be accepted.
In Sheikhupura, a protest was led by Provincial General Secretary Syed Hasan Raza Kazmi and District President Syed Ali Irfan Naqvi. They declared that the amendment had been rejected by the nation and that the so-called Form-47 rulers were attempting to prolong their weak rule through fraudulent legislation.
In Bahawalpur, a major protest was recorded as MWM took out a rally outside Masjid Ahl-e-Bayt Tabba Badar Sher. Large crowds participated and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the amendment, declaring it an attempt to restrict public freedoms.
In Layyah, the protest was held outside Jamia Masjid Abu Talib, where speakers including Safdar Hussain Khan and Sajid Hussain Gashkori condemned the amendment as a threat to national security and a tool for politicians to conceal their misdeeds. Protesters chanted slogans in favour of Pakistan and the Constitution.
In Multan, the demonstration was led by MWM South Punjab Organiser Allama Qazi Nader Hussain Alvi along with senior district leadership. Speakers said the 27th Amendment, as well as the earlier 26th, served no national purpose and would not be accepted. They warned that hasty amendments aimed at empowering a few individuals were detrimental to Pakistan’s future.
In Kasur, a protest was organised by MWM District Kasur, where District Leader Chaudhry Zigham Abbas declared that the amendment was unacceptable and must be withdrawn immediately. He reaffirmed MWM’s commitment to constitutional supremacy.
In Shayar Nagar, a peaceful protest was held after Friday prayers where former GB Assembly member Haji Rizwan Ali addressed the gathering along with District President Engr. Nasir Moomi. He termed the amendment a direct attack on Pakistan’s democratic principles and urged the public to remain vigilant regarding its negative consequences.
Under the same call of Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan and MWM Chairman Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, a protest was also held outside Jamia Masjid Rajua Sadat under the leadership of Allama Mehdi Kazmi, where protesters raised loud slogans against the 27th Amendment and MWM leaders participated prominently.
Protesters nationwide unanimously declared the 27th Amendment an anti-people, unconstitutional and unjust measure, vowing to resist it at every level. They warned that the people of Pakistan would remain on the streets until this oppressive amendment is withdrawn, and that they were awaiting the next call from the leadership of Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan.
