Dutch court convicts Ashraf Jalali, Saad Rizvi for inciting people
Shiite News: A Dutch court has convicted Head of Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan, Hafiz Saad Hussain Rizvi, and Head of separatist faction Tehreek-e-Labaik Yar Rasoolullah, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Jalali, for inciting people to kill anti-Islamic extremist Dutch leader Geert Wilders.
Leaders of TLP were sentenced to 14 years and 4 years respectively in the alleged attempt case.
According to AFP, the two leaders were tried in absentia in a Dutch court on Monday last week. Ashraf Jalali, 56, was sentenced to 14 years in prison, where he was accused of inciting his followers to kill Geert Wilders and promising them a reward in the afterlife.
Saad Rizvi, 29, was sentenced to four years in prison, where he was also accused of inciting his lover to kill Geert Wilders.
It should be noted that on the same charge, former Pakistani cricketer Khalid Latif was also sentenced to 12 years in prison by the court of the Netherlands.
In August 2018, Geert Wilders tried to hold a competition for profane sketches of the Holy Prophet, but the announcement led to violent protests across Pakistan, after which he canceled the competition and received death threats.
It is also worth mentioning here that the extremist lawmaker of the Netherlands enjoys 24-hour state protection since 2004.
After the last hearing, a judge, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that there was a lot of anxiety and anger in the Muslim community after the contest was announced.
