In the tribal areas of Pakistan, on one hand, the candidates are at risk of attacks by contesting elections on a political basis, on the other hand, the people of Sunni and Shia schools of thought in Kurram, united through the alliance of MWM and PTI.
The major population around 20 pc of Upper Kurram, consisting of five villages, belongs to Sunni Muslims, while the remaining 80 percent of the population is said to be Shiite Muslims.
People of Sunni Shia sect have united under the banner of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf nominated candidate. Local people say that there have been elections before but in this, the Sunni Shias were far away from each other.
In recent days, former IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Syed Irshad Hussain elected Engineer Hameed Hussain from National Assembly Constituency NA-37 District Kurram and Syed Najat Hussain from PK96.
While formally announcing his support, he has said that Imran Khan has sent me a message from jail that he should support these two candidates.
Shia Sunni people are running political campaign of Syed Najat Hussain and Engineer Hameed Hussain, jointly in the area.
It is also worth mentioning that for the first time, good news is being received from Kuram Agency on behalf of the people of both school of thoughts.
