Shiite News: Turbat city of Baluchistan province is very crowded on normal days. One of the main reasons for this is the trade from here through the Iranian border, especially the supply of Iranian oil.

But this time, not only was the crowd more than usual, but there was a feeling of restlessness, haste and uncertainty among the people who came here.

There is a large market for Iranian oil in Turbat, the people in this market, especially those bringing Iranian oil, appeared in a hurry to complete their work as soon as possible, lest the border between Iran and Pakistan be closed, and the reason for this is recent tense situation between Pakistan and Iran.

At a distance of about 200 km from this southwestern city of Balochistan, the Iranian border and from there the Iranian city of Saravan falls.

This is the same city where Pakistan has claimed to have targeted ‘terrorist hideouts’ in response to the Iranian missile attack on January 17.

It should be remembered that on the night of January 16, Iran carried out an aerial attack on the alleged hideouts of the extremist organization ‘Jaish-ul-Adl’ in the ‘Koh Sabz’ area of Balochistan province of Pakistan, in which two children were killed, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. Three girls were injured.

While reacting to the Iranian attack, Pakistan targeted the hideouts of alleged militants in Sistan and Baluchistan province of Iran on the morning of January 17, in which nine people have been confirmed dead by the Iranian authorities.

People present in Turbat market said that Amidst this tension, found more than usual security in Turbat city, with army, FC and police vehicles patrolling the city, while snap checking was going on at the entrances and exits of the city.
More than usual traffic and security checks near the hub were noticed, where a large number of vehicles, oil tankers and containers appeared in long queues.

Security forces personnel were also deployed in large numbers on the roads leading to Turbat and were checking every vehicle coming and going. Only the cars of local families were being lenient.

“I reached Turbat and saw many vehicles of the security forces on the road leading to the border.

After reaching here, when I spoke to some people, I come to know that the attack by Iran on January 16 has surprised everyone here. Because the relationship between Pakistan and Iran has never seen tension” said the eye witness.

But this was the first time that Iran not only attacked a village near Panjgur but also formally accepted it.

The border was closed immediately after the attack by Iran in Pakistan, which was opened after a day of closure, but the local people of Turbat seem to be very worried about the closure of the border.

Uncertainty was evident on the face of every resident as they say that their employment is linked to bilateral trade at the border.

Reflecting on the situation after the recent tension, they said that ‘our livelihood, bread comes from here. Along with petrol comes food and drink. We just pray that it doesn’t stop again.
