Ban on students’ union is an obstacle to real democracy, Debaj Abidi

Shiite News: The democratic process is meaningless without the restoration of the student union.
The democratic process has stagnated due to the ban on the student union in Pakistan.

The ban on the student union is an obstacle to real democracy. Along with creating political awareness, it also nurtures critical intellectual thinking in them.

These views were expressed by Mohammad Debaj Abidi, President of ISO Karachi Division, during a meeting with students of public and private universities at Al-Mustafa House.

He further said that since the last 39 years, students have been deprived of their democratic right, due to ban on student union, students are suffering due to lack of representation in decision-making forums of educational institutions.

He said that the political parties should stop their dictatorial behavior and restore the student union immediately, students are the backbone of every society.

Due to the ban on student union, students lost practical politics and self-development and inexperienced people came forward.

He further said that ISO Pakistan has not only opposed this unconstitutional and illegal practice for the past 39 years, but has also protested against it on every forum till date and will continue its struggle until its restoration.
