Climate change poses serious threats to Pakistan, Nasir Sherazi
Shiite News: Central General Secretary of Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan Syed Nasir Abbas Shirazi has said in his statement that the country is in dire need of a comprehensive plan to deal with the challenges of climate change and global warming.
Many international organizations have warned about this, but we are not waking up from our slumber.
He said that for 75 years, the dear country has been severely damaged by natural calamities like floods, but there is no organized and stable planning at the provincial or federal level.
There are many countries in our region, including China, Bangladesh, India and Nepal, where the annual average rainfall is several times higher than Pakistan, there is no damage from floods as severe as in our country.
These countries have used their resources timely and in a useful manner, in which our governments and policy-making institutions have failed.
He said that our rulers have taken billions of dollars in the form of foreign loans, which the nation still does not know where these huge loans have been spent.
The current rulers have also received billions of dollars in aid in the name of helping and rehabilitating the flood victims and are still expressing their begging in the international community and forums, but people in the flood-affected areas of the country are still waiting for government assistance.
The winter season has started, people are forced to live day and night under the open sky on the ruins of helpless houses.
Due to standing flood water in many areas of Sindh, wheat cultivation could not be done, children have not gone to school yet.
