Shiite representation further reduced in CII, raised concerns
Shiite News: Since the establishment of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), there has been adequate representation of the Shias until now, and since the era of Allama Mufti Jafar Hussain R.A, the Shias had 2 seats in the CII.
Now they have reduced this Shiite representation to only one. In CII the schools of thought are represented as, 4 Barelvi, 4 Deobandi, 2 Ahl-e-Hadith and 2 Shia members, one female member is elected while the rest are technocrats.
In this way, a council consisting of 20 members including the chairman is formed, but in this new setup, the representation of Shias has been reduced and now only one seat has been given to Shias in the CII. Allama Dr. Muhammad Hussain Akbar is currently the sole representative on behalf of the Shiites.
Grave concerns being expressed by the Shiites over the decrease in the number of seats in the CII. The Shias have demanded that not only their second seat should be returned to them, but also the seats of the Shias should be increased, because the Shias are more in number than the Ale Hadees in Pakistan.
