The 13-member delegation returned to Islamabad from Kabul after the negotiations failed.

According to the details, the Pakistani government has persuaded the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan to give up its demand for an extension of ceasefire and rollback of previous FATA reforms and to stop its alleged ‘Jihad’ against Pakistan.

According to the sources, the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban has refused to accept the demands of the Pakistan government in clear and unambiguous words to Mufti Taqi Usmani and the delegation that arrived in Kabul with him. It is being said that Mufti Taqi Usmani tried hard to convince the banned TTP but he could not succeed till the end.

It should be noted that the delegation of scholars was welcomed by the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul. The 13-member delegation also included Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa clerics having strong links to the Haqqani network, who are mediating the current negotiation process between the Pakistan government and the TTP.

The delegation of clerics will also try to get the help of Afghanistan’s Interim Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani to make the ceasefire more effective. The delegation sought to persuade the TTP to drop its demand for rollback of earlier FATA reforms, which had been approved by Pakistan’s parliament, and to desist from its alleged ‘jihad’ against Pakistan.
