Security forces killed one terrorist and apprehended two others during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the tribal area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Friday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the forces conducted the operation on the reported presence of terrorists in Miranshah, North Waziristan.
“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists,” it added.
The ISPR further added that the area clearance operation was underway to hunt down any other terrorists in the neighbourhood.
Moreover, in Bannu district, a soldier of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire with the terrorists in Jani Khel area, the military said.
Terrorists fired on the military post in Jani Khel area on the night of January 13/14 (Thursday night), according to the ISPR.
“Army troops initiated a prompt response and effectively engaged the terrorists’ location,” read the statement.
“During intense exchange of fire, a soldier, Sepoy Sarfaraz Ali , age 26 years, a resident of Vehari embraced shahadat [martyrdom],” it added.
Last month, at least four soldiers were martyred and one terrorist was arrested during an IBO in North Waziristan, the ISPR had said in a statement.
According to the military’s media wing, the security forces had conducted the operation in the area on the reported presence of terrorists. During the intense exchange of firing with the terrorist, four soldiers lost their lives.
