Shia Muslims across the world, including those from Pakistan, observed Arafa Day on 9th Zilhajj by offering specially recommended prayers and recited Dua-e-Arafa at congregations.

In Karachi, main congregation was held at Masjid Khair ul Amal Incholi. Qari Mubashir Zaidi recited Dua-e-Arafa at a congregation attended by thousands of people.
Later, Hujjatul Islam Allama Syed Sadiq Raza Taqvi spoke at Majlis-e-Aza in commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Muslim Bin Aqeel (AS), the envoy and cousin of Imam Hussain (AS) who Imam Hussain (AS) had sent to Kufa (Iraq) as his messenger/emissary.
Imamia Students Organisation organize the event every year. However, Shia Muslims belonging to different groups attend the congregation.
Similar congregations for Arafa prayers and martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Muslim bin Aqeel were held in Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Parachinar and other parts of Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan.
First, Imam Hussain (AS) recited Dua-e-Arafa in the desert of Arafat, Mecca and now Shia pilgrims recite this pray (dua) at Arafat Desert during Hajj pilgrimage on 9th Zilhajj. Apart from that main event in Arafat, Shia Muslims hold congregations for Dua-e-Arafa across the world and since Islamic revolution in Iran in 1979 this sacred tradition was globalised because Iranian revolution revived many traditions of Shia Islam.
