Imam Khomeiniˈs legacy is to fight against Imperialism: US author

Speaking to the IRNA news, Wilayto underlined the role of the political and religious legacy of the late Imam (Khomeini) in regional uprisings over the past few years.

He was the leader of the last popular revolution of the century which has influenced other regional nations for its peaceful and nonviolent manner.

Wilayto hailed the peaceful conduct of the Islamic Revolution saying it posed a big challenge to international hegemonic powers, particularly the United States.

The US author, known for his book ˈIn Defense of Iran,ˈ added Imam Khomeini established a real democracy in Iran.

Currently different voices are being heard in Iran, including those of the religious minorities such as the Jews who have their own representatives in the Iranian Parliament, Wilayto stressed.

He added that the late Imam Khomeini had constantly underled the need for unity among Shiite and Sunni Muslims.

Referring to the current sectarian conflicts in the region, the US author said thoughts and teachings of the late Imam can be very helpful to solve those conflicts in this juncture.

Wilayto added that Imam Khomeiniˈs thoughts are useful and important both for the Iranians and Muslims and for the non-Muslim nations.
