MWM forms non-political Alliance of Patriots against the terrorists
Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has announced on Monday that a non-political Alliance of Patriots was formed to save and defend Pakistan against the enemies.
“We have constituted Alliance of Patriots in which Sahibzada Hamid of Sunni Ittehad Council and Senator Faisal Raza Abedi and other eminent figures have become our allies,” said Nasir Abbas Shirazi, central secretary for political affairs of the MWM, at a press conference at Karachi Press Club.
Maulana Ahmed Iqbal, Allama Abdullah Mutehri and Syed Ali Hussain Naqvi were also present.
He said that more parties and high-profile figures would join the alliance very soon. He said that the alliance would lay the foundation of positive change.
“We think that we are the party most affected by terrorism. We and the relatives and heirs of the martyrs believe that we must be made part of the decision-making process of any anti-terrorism policy of the government,” he said.
He announced MWM’s all out support to the Voice of Martyrs that was founded by Senator Faisal Raza Abedi to condemn the terrorists and express solidarity with the heirs of martyrs.
“MWM will actively contest local councils’ elections in all over Pakistan. Together with the like-minded groups and parties, we are going to lay the foundation of the change that will introduce, encourage and embolden positive forces and real leadership,” he said.
He said that despite targeted operation in Karachi, genocide of Shiites continued unabated and that must be stopped by launching an effective operation against the outlawed terrorist outfits.
“We reiterate our demand that an impartial judicial commission headed by Chief Justice Supreme Court should probe the Ashura Tragedy Rawalpindi because the present commission and fact-finding committee are partial and under the influence of biased high-profile figures” he said.
Mr. Shirazi further said that federal interior minister and Punjab’s law minister should resign accepting their failure in maintenance of law and order during Moharram and in particular on the day of Ashura. He demanded that if they don’t resign they must be sacked as ministers.
He said that it was a deep-rooted plot and pre-planned attack on peaceful mourners on Ashura in Pindi. Foreign-backed terrorists were hired to strengthen those who want that Ashura and Eid Milad ul Nabi (PBUH)’s processions should not continue. They want a ban on practice of Islamic traditions and custom.
“Eigh mosques and Imam Bargahs and many shops were burnt. Quran was set on fire but there was not a single report in the media and nor a single word of sympathy from the government for the victims of those incidents, it proved discriminatory attitude of the government and media,” he said.
