Muslims across the coountry were attended the convention ad rally named “Istaqlal-e-Pakistan”to condemn the foreign conspiracies against Pakistan and five years long beseige of Parachinar.
The program was the annual gathering of Shia Muslims of Pakistan to observe the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Allama Arif Hussain Al Hussaini ra.
Meanwhile, Participtants of a convention to observe the death anniversary of Allama Arif Hussaini staged a sit-in at D-Chowk on Sunday after the local administration stopped live coverage of the event and asked them to leave the area.
The Istklal-i-Pakistan Convention was organised by the Majlis Wahdat-i- Muslameen (MWM) to observe the 23rd anniversary of Allama Arif Hussaini’s assassination at Markazi Imambargah. The convention was also organised to condemn the siege of Parachinar for the last five years.
After the convention, the participants took out a rally that marched towards D-Chowk, where fiery speeches were delivered by Ulema and leaders of various religious and political parties.
While addressing the participants, Allama Amin Shaheedi, organiser of the convention, said that the Interior Ministry issued directive not to allow the live coverage of the event as they had not been given assurance by the government to provide security to the aid caravan which would leave for Parachinar tonight.
Speeches continued during the sit-in and the speakers blamed the US policies for the unrest in the country and said that after failing to move ahead in their war on terror, the US money was being utilised to pitch the Muslims against the Muslims and to create an atmosphere of terror among the Muslims.
Allama Nasir Abbas said that the suspension of the US aid would be the encouraging sign for Pakistan. “We only have to manage ourselves and stand on our own feet,†he added.
The sit-in was also addressed by representatives of Tehreek-e-Insaf, Maulana Hasan Zafar, Allama Rahat Hussaini and Haider Alvi of Sunni Tehreek, who announced support of his party to the aid caravan.
However, after three hours the sit-in was called off as Allama Amin Shaeedi announced that Rehman Malik said that live coverage was not allowed due to the security concerns and the government did not want the terrorists to know the ground situation.
“Mr Malik has also promised to extend all possible support to the aid caravan,†Allama Shaheedi said.
The aid caravan carrying food, medicines and warm clothing would be dispatched to Parachinar tonight.
