Indian Shiites mourn Imam Javad’s (AS) Martyrdom Anniversary

On the occasion of martyrdom anniversary of Imam Javad (AS), a mourning ceremony was held on Sunday, October 6, in Lucknow District of Uttar Pradesh State of India.

Reza Abbas, organizer of the program, said that the mourning rituals began at 8 p.m. local time at Nazemiyyah Seminary School of the region.

Quran verses were recited at the beginning of the ceremony by one of the seminary students and Ali Reza Ja’fari, eminent Indian preacher presented a speech at the program.

Seerah and moral virtues of the ninth infallible Imam (AS) were highlighted by the scholar at the program which is open to the public.

Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Taqi Al-Javad (AS) was born in Medina, on the 10th of Rajab, 195 Hijri and martyred in Baghdad in 220 Hijri when he was 25 years old. When Imam Reza (AS), his father, was martyred, the 9th Imam (AS) was only 9 years old. The length of his Imamate was 17 years.
