Zaireen belonging to Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will not be able to enjoy the ‘visa on arrival’ facility that has been granted to other pilgrims on the occasion of the Arbaeen (or Chehlum anniversary of martyrs of Karbala).

Syed Jamaluddin Shehristani, head of the information department of the shrine of Imam Hussain (AS) has said that the relevant officials at the airports and on the land border crossings were issued directives regarding the on arrival visa facility that will be provided to the pilgrims from 20th Moharram to 20th Safar.
Millions of pilgrims mostly Shia Muslims from all over the world go to Iraq for pilgrimage on Ashura and Arbaeen (Chehlum). The majority prefers to reach Karbala on foot from Najaf. However, there are many who travel from far flung areas of Iraq and from Iranian borders on foot to reach Karbala to pay homage to the infallible leader of Shia Islam.
