Punjab police withdraws FIR against Shia mourners in Gujar Khan

Peaceful protest by Shia mourners bears fruit as Gujar Khan Police of Rawalpindi district of Punjab province had to withdraw an illegal and unjustifiable FIR against the Shia Muslims for taking out an Azadari procession in commemoration of martyrs of Karbala mainly Imam Hussain (AS).

Shia Muslims brought out third Muharram mourning procession (juloos of Azadari) in Sandal Rajgan area in Gujar Khan. This procession is brought out every year for many years but biased police registered a case against the processionists as per policy of pro-terrorists Punjab government led by Shahbaz Sharif.
The peaceful azadar staged a sit-in and blocked main GT Road to protest against the illegal and unjustifiable FIR against Azadari procession yesterday. Their protest evoked an apology from police and administration and they withdrew FIR forthwith.
Pro-ASWJ Punjab government has plotted against Azadari and formulated a policy under which Shia Muslims are being harassed and implicated in false cases so that they could not enjoy their religious and cultural right of Azadari during Moharram. Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen had announced sit-in in Lahore but Punjab government assured that they would not impede holding of Azadari Majlis and processions.
