Allama Hassan Zafar warns of protests if illegally detained Shias not released
Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen’s deputy secretary general, Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi, has warned the powers that be that entire Shia Muslim community would come out on streets to register protest if the illegally detained Shias were not released forthwith.
“If there was any case against them, they should have been produced in the court and should have been granted their legal right to defend them through defence counsels,” he said speaking at the All-Party Conference of Shia Muslim Pakistanis at the Wahdat Secretariat in Karachi yesterday.
Allama Hassan Zafar vowed that MWM would not remain silent on the issue of enforced disappearance of Shia youths, scholars and notables. He asked the authorities to either release the illegally detained Shias or get them too to the detained Shias forthwith.
He assured the affected families that MWM would not leave them alone and would help them in this critical situation. He condemned the illegal detention of innocent Shia Muslims and demanded their immediate release.
