IRGC to target terrorists anywhere: Senior commander
A senior Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) commander says the Islamic Republic will target terrorists in any place.
“We will target counter-revolutionary forces, outlaws and terrorists who are being trained and are planning and plotting to destabilize our border regions at any spot,” the commander of the IRGC’s Ground Forces, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, told Fars news agency on Wednesday.
He said that the IRGC forces had busted a terrorist group seeking to carry out an act of sabotage in the western Iranian city of Sanandaj during the International Quds Day.
The remarks came almost three weeks after the IRGC fired six medium-range ballistic missiles at Daesh targets in Syria’s eastern Dayr al-Zawr province in response to the June 7 Daesh terrorist attacks in Tehran, which killed 18 people.
The missiles were the first launched from Iran at targets outside the country.
The IRGC has said the missiles killed more than 170 Takfiri terrorists, including a number of commanders and senior elements, and inflicted heavy damage on their equipment and systems.
